SHU BROWN


 

東京藝術大学大学院美術研究科 修士課程 グローバルアートプラクティス専攻 在学中。

ローザンヌ州立美術大学への交換留学を経て、2025年多摩美術大学を卒業。
主な受賞歴に、CAF賞2022（岩渕貞哉審査員賞）、多摩美術大学卒業制作展2025 優秀作品 等。

 

【ステイトメント】

強い言葉が世界を単純化し誰かを外へ追いやるとき、私はその境界に目を向けてみる。熱で融解する糸をたぐり、小さなリトルネロのように線を反復して、混沌の中に仮の居場所を立ち上げる。その温度は固まった輪郭をゆっくり溶かし、内と外のあいだに小さな開口が生まれてゆく。これは迷いにとどまる実験であり、アリアドネの糸を見つめながら溶かしていくようなこと。それを、他者の不可解さに触れうる微細な契機としてみたい。

When forceful words simplify the world and push someone outside, I turn my gaze toward that boundary. Using heat-melting threads, I repeatedly draw lines on the panels, trying to mark out a temporary place of belonging. There, a scene emerges in which the boundary between inside and outside begins to blur. Into that scene, a small refrain (ritornello) slowly weaves through it. This is an experiment in remaining with uncertainty, like keeping Ariadne’s thread in view even as it slowly dissolves. I hope it can offer a delicate opening for touching the unknowability of another.
